SMA EV Charger 7.4KW 1-phase

The SMA EV Charger 7.4KW 1-phase is a charger for electric cars that works seamlessly with your solar panels! You can set it to 3 charging modes namely ‘fast’, ‘Intelligent’ and ‘cost-effective’. You can set these using the rotary knob on the side of the device this has 2 settings. You can set it here to ‘fast’ mode or to eco mode. If it is in eco mode, you can choose in the app whether it should then be ‘intelligent’ or ‘cost-effective’.

The name says it all of course but in the ‘fast’ mode, the charger is going to try to recharge your car as quickly as possible this can be done with the SMA EV Charger 7.4KW 1-phase at an output of 7.4kW! In Intelligent mode, the vehicle is charged with the excess solar power. So instead of delivering back, you charge your car directly with this. You can set how high the excess power needs to be in the Sunny portal before it starts charging. So with this, you charge completely green using only solar power!
In ‘cost-effective’ mode, you set a programme for when the car should finish charging. SMA EV Charger 7.4KW 1-phase will then try to charge as green and economical as possible. So as much solar power as possible but also by using the off-peak tariff.

To set up the SMA EV Charger 7.4KW 1-phase properly, you need the SMA Smart Home Manager 2.0. You can place this on the DIN rail in the meter box.

This combination allows you to set everything in the SMA Energy App.

In this app, you can see all your charging programmes and current consumption. And by using the SMA Smart Home Manager 2.0, the SMA EV Charger 7.4KW 1-phase can be set to PV boost mode. Then it combines power from the grid with solar power! In doing so, it can charge single-phase with 7.4kW.

Because the current in the house is measured continuously, the SMA EV Charger 7.4KW 1-phase will switch back when the consumption in the house increases so that you never overload your main fuse.
