The SMA EV Charger 22kW 3-phase is the perfect electric vehicle charging solution that integrates seamlessly with your solar power system. This smart charger offers various charging modes, allowing you to charge your car efficiently and sustainably using self-generated solar energy.
Smart Charging Modes SMA EV Charger 22KW 3-phase
The SMA EV Charger lets you choose from three different charging modes: Fast, Intelligent, and Cost-Effective.
- Fast Mode: In Fast mode, the charger charges your vehicle as quickly as possible with a maximum output of 22 kW. Ideal for when you need to get back on the road quickly.
- Intelligent Mode: This mode uses excess solar power to charge your car. Instead of feeding it back to the grid, the solar energy is used directly to charge your EV. Through the Sunny Portal, you set how much excess power there should be before charging starts, ensuring your vehicle is fully green.
- Cost-Effective Mode: In this mode, you set a schedule for when the car should finish charging. The SMA EV Charger optimises the charging process to be as green and cost-effective as possible, using both solar power and the off-peak tariff.
Integration with the SMA Smart Home Manager 2.0
In the app, you can also activate the PV-Boost function, which allows the charger to combine both grid and solar power for a charging rate of 7.4 kW in single-phase mode. The charger automatically adjusts the charging power based on the home’s energy consumption, so the main fuse is never overloaded.

The SMA EV Charger 22kW 3-phase is designed with safety and efficiency in mind. Thanks to continuous monitoring of energy consumption in the home, the charger automatically switches back when power consumption increases, ensuring you always stay within safe limits.
