The Growatt hybrid inverter SPH3600 1-phase allows you to take an important step towards the future. The power generated by the solar panels but not consumed at the time it is generated (direct own consumption) can be fed back to the grid, but you could also store it in a home battery! This way, we can use energy generated on a sunny day in the evening hours. This hybrid inverter from Growatt is capable of connecting the grid, the solar panels and the battery. The beauty of this hybrid inverter system is that the inverter also works fine without a battery. So you can initially connect to the grid alone, to easily add a GBLI 6.5kwh low voltage home battery in the foreseeable future, using the accompanying GBLI 6.5kwh low voltage cable set. If 6.5kwh is not enough storage capacity, then, using the GBLI 6.5kwh low voltage parallel cable set, connect a second GBLI 6.5 low voltage home battery to double the storage capacity.
Growatt hybrid inverter SPH3600 1-phase are full-fledged hybrid inverters. They have a UPS function, which stands for Uninterrupted Power Supply. This means that the inverter can switch almost seamlessly between any emergency power supply, and standard AC connection. This means that in most cases, a server, for example, will simply stay on during a power failure, provided the battery is sufficiently charged to power the emergency power circuit. Note: If the emergency power supply is used, the NEN requires that you are also physically completely disconnected from the grid, so that you could not accidentally feed power back to the grid if work is being done on the cables in the street. For this, use an Automatic Transfer Switch 1-phase in the case of a 1-phase grid connection, and an Automatic Transfer Switch 3-phase in the case of a 3-phase grid connection.
In order for the SPH inverter to work properly with a battery, CT clamps, or, in the case of a 1-phase grid connection, a Growatt smart meter 1-phase, and in the case of a 3-phase grid connection, a Growatt smart meter 3-phase must be connected. You install this at the very beginning of the meter box so that it can measure all incoming and outgoing energy! As a result, the inverter knows when power is about to be fed back into the grid and can use the settings to determine whether the battery needs to be charged or discharged.
Different priorities can be indicated in the Growatt SPH single-phase hybrid inverters. Switching between these modes can be based on preset time schedules. So it is not a completely dynamic system based on power prices.
- Load first: This mode ensures that produced solar power is sent to consumers in the home first. The excess power generated is used to charge the battery. When the battery is full, the remainder is fed back into the grid.
- Battery first: With the solar power generated, the battery is charged first. If this is successful, the rest can be fed to the consumers in the house. If any power is left over, it is fed back into the grid.
- Grid first: This setting ensures that all the power generated is fed directly into the grid.
The Growatt hybrid inverter SPH3600 1-phase has no mechanical fan or transformer so they are very quiet, and features 2 MPP Trackers. This means that 2 series-connected ‘strings’ can be connected, which do not affect ps other in case of shading, for example. Ideal if, for instance, the lower half of the roof gets sun later than the upper half, or if, for instance, only one half of the roof is shaded. You can connect up to a maximum of 8000 watt peak on this inverter! The moments you generate more than 3600 watts, the surplus is capped.
The battery you may connect to this inverter has a maximum DC output of 3000 watts, has an effort range of 42 to 59 volts and a maximum continuous input current of 66 amps. You can programme the charge and discharge time yourself.
It can be easily monitored through Growatt ShineWiFi-S a Shine Link Lanbox. Or use a Growatt shine master (4G) if you want multiple SPH 1-phase hybrid inverters to work together.
Growatt offers a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty on its battery-powered inverters.
