The Growatt APX battery system is a modular, stackable battery system suitable for Growatt’s MOD XH-BP and MID XH 3-stage series. The storage capacity can be flexibly modulated between 5kWh and 30 kWh. The system takes up to 20kWh 69 by 18.5cm of floor space. For larger capacities (i.e. more than 4 battery modules), a second stack has to be made, and you therefore need 2 bases.
The advantage of APX battery systems is that optimisation is done per battery module. Different SOC and SOH modules can be combined with each other.
The Growatt APX 5.0P-B1 HV battery module is a 50 kg cobalt-free LiFePO4 battery module of 5kWh, with built-in modular energy optimisation, passive protection by beam fuse and soft start to prevent overvoltage. This ensures a reliable and safe home battery system. Thanks to ‘Battery soft-switching parallel’ switching, you can combine old and new Growatt APX 5.0P-B1 HV battery module from different batches and with different capacities. Mixed sets from different suppliers are also possible, giving you optimum flexibility in your system design.
The APX battery system has a four-layer protection system consisting of a BMS, modular energy optimiser, fuse and aerosol, to ensure optimum reliability and long service life.
The APX 98034-P2 BMS ( battery management system) is the heart of an APX battery system. It communicates via CAN/RS485 with the Growatt MOD-XH inverters. SOC, system voltage, cell voltage, cell temperature and PCB temperatures are accurately tracked. The BMS can handle a peak current of 34 amps for up to 60 seconds. The APX 98034-P2 BMS measures 69 x 18.5 x 29.5 cm and weighs 16 kg.
Place your APX battery system on the APX battery base to ensure a solid base.

Note! There are several MOD XH inverters in circulation.
- The MOD XH (non-BP) does not have a neutral connection.
- The MOD XH BP does have a neutral connection.
Both these inverters can be combined with the APX battery. In both cases, an update must be performed on the inverter. This needs to be done by Growatt itself, so feel free to contact us to arrange this!
Pro tip for during installation: When you first start up the APX battery, do so when the inverter has sufficient PV power, i.e. when the sun is shining! Then the inverter can automatically update the batteries on the first start-up. If you get error 217 at the first startup, then your inverter needs an update. Please contact us if you get this error message!
