The Growatt SPF 3500ES is an off grid inverter with integrated charge controller. So you can use it in combination with batteries, but this is not a requirement. It also works fine without batteries.
The advantage of the integrated charge controller is that it controls battery charging and discharging. You can set priorities for this on this Growatt SPF inverter. The charge controller also ensures that the battery life is extended. This is because the charge controller monitors the current strength at which the battery is charged. So it continuously adjusts the amperage. Also, the battery is never overcharged, or fully discharged. You can connect a maximum of 4500wp to it and it is suitable for a 48Volt battery: Growatt GBLI Low voltage 6.5 battery.
Note! This inverter can be connected to the grid for backup applications, but is not suitable for feed-in to the grid.
For monitoring, you have a special monitoring module namely the Growatt Shinewifi-F. These are especially for off grid applications.
Growatt SPF inverters come with a standard 2-year warranty.
Note. These inverters have a relatively high standby consumption. Count on approx. 70 watts per hour.
General tips when using an SPF inverter.
1. Select the battery type in programme 5. For lithium Ion batteries, select this type.
2. Programme 36 determines the communication protocol. For ARK 2.5L-A1 and GBLI batteries, select protocol L51.
3. If the inverter’s power switch is off (important) set the AC output with programme 23
4. If all settings are correct connect the battery and inverter together with the battery and commmunication cables.
5. The battery and inverter can be switched on.

Datasheet User manual Conformity certificate RFG NEN-EN 50549-1 Battery settings lithium ionThe communication board of the SPF inverter indicates the status of various components of the off grid inverter through LED indicators.
- If the LED flashes red, it indicates that the communication board and the BMS of the lithium battery have a good connection.
- If the LED flashes orange, it indicates that the communication board has connection to wifi or PC sotfware via the wifi-F monitoring module.
- If the LED flashes blue, it indicates that the communication board has connection via the RS485 port
- If the LED flashes green, it indicates that the inverter has successfully connected to the BMS
